(Richmond)- Governor Northam is calling for a special session to take up gun control legislation following the deadly mass shooting in Virginia Beach. Northam said yesterday he’s calling lawmakers back to Richmond in an effort to pass common sense public safety laws. They include a push to ban assault weapons, suppressors and bump stocks, as well as implementing universal background checks and extreme risk protective orders. Northam said he is asking for votes and laws from lawmakers, not for thoughts and prayers.
