Northam Vows Not To Sign Mandatory Minimum Sentence Legislation

(Richmond)-  Governor Ralph Northam is pushing back against mandatory minimum sentences in Virginia.  He said yesterday that he won’t sign anymore legislation that requires it during his term.  The announcement was made after Northam said in a Washington Post editorial that he met with leaders in the state about how to make the Commonwealth fairer.  The governor says he believes it will make Virginia more equitable for communities of color.
