Schools Get Option Of Starting Before Labor Day

(Richmond)- All of Virginia’s public schools now have the option of starting class before Labor Day.  Governor Northam signed bills this week that will allow districts to open as early as two weeks before the holiday if they choose.  Around three-quarters of the districts in the Commonwealth can already open before Labor Day due to special waivers.  The ruling goes into effect for the upcoming school year, although many districts have already approved calendars.
