Judges Choose House Map That Reportedly Favors Democrats

(Richmond)- A new House of Delegates map chosen by U.S. District Court judges yesterday appears to lean in favor of Democrats. The court ordered a political science professor from California-Irvine to redraw district lines due to unconstitutional racial gerrymandering. Republican House Speaker Kirk Cox says the GOP will continue the fight in court to keep the original map in place. The director of UVA’s Center for Politics told the Richmond Times Dispatch that the new proposal would almost guarantee a Democratic takeover in the Virginia House.
