(DC)- The Virginia Board of Psychology is voting to ban gay conversion therapy for minors. Officials began the process yesterday to ban licensees from practicing. Conversion therapy is viewed by most mental health organizations as ineffective and potentially harmful. Dr. Herb Stewart, chairman of the board, says he believes a regulatory ban is necessary to protect Virginia’s youth. Currently, it is illegal to perform the practice on minors in 14 states and the District of Columbia.
