(Richmond)- The Virginia Department of Corrections is cracking down on tampon use among its prisons’ visitors. Chief of Operations David Robinson says they will no longer be permitted to be worn during visitation because of contraband concerns. The department cites instances in which visitors have smuggled drugs inside a body cavity. The ACLU of Virginia called it unacceptable to require people to set aside their dignity and health.
