Flood Destroys Twenty Acres Of Pumpkins

(Nelson County)- Twenty acres of a central Virginia pumpkin patch are washed away with the rains from Florence. Owner Henry Fitzgerald says flooding from the Tye River in Massies Mill destroyed around 100-thousand-dollars’ worth of pumpkins just as the buying season heats up. It’s a relatively small chunk of the pumpkins Fitzgerald will be able to sell, which totals up to 160 acres. He reported last year he couldn’t sell as many pumpkins because they were too big.
