Attorney General Says Schools Can’t Arm Teachers

(Richmond)- Virginia’s attorney general says one Virginia school district can’t legally arm its teachers. Mark Herring revealed in a legal report yesterday that state law doesn’t currently allow teachers and administrators to carry guns on school grounds for safety purposes. Lee County was the first district in the state to approve a plan to arm teachers earlier this summer. Herring noted that lawmakers have turned down previous proposals that would exempt teachers from the law.
