(Stafford)- The Stafford Sheriff’s Office is starting a new program it is hoping will help ID criminals. Businesses and residents with security cameras are being asked to participate in a voluntary program that gives law enforcement access to privately owned surveillance camera footage during crime incidents. By registering the cameras with the department, authorities say they will be able to quickly identify nearby cameras that may have captured criminal activity. Registration does not enable law enforcement to view footage without permission.
