(Stafford)- From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

A man was arrested last week by deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office after an elderly woman allowed him to borrow her vehicle and he never returned it.
On July 19, 2018, Deputy Karl Warnick responded to a residence on North Pointe Drive in reference to a past occurred larceny. The elderly resident explained that a man identified as Kenneth Jerome Brown Sr., 49, of Fredericksburg had come to her residence on July 6, 2018 asking to borrow her vehicle.
The resident told the deputy that she has a tree service company come to her residence every year to do work on her property. Brown, one of the employees of the company, asked her to use her vehicle to do a side job at another location the following day. She agreed to let him use the vehicle if he returned it the next day.
After trying to contact Brown on numerous occasions without any return calls, the resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report his failure to return the vehicle. Deputy Warnick was able to reach Brown and told him to return the vehicle immediately. Brown called the victim and promised to return the vehicle by July 24, 2018.
After the deadline passed without Brown returning the vehicle, the victim again contacted the Sheriff’s Office. This time, the deputy was unable to reach Brown.
Brown was taken into custody on July 25, 2018 after deputies responded to a call regarding a male subject lying on the ground on Route 3. Upon arrival, deputies observed that the man was responsive. They also discovered he was wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Brown provided the location of the stolen truck, which was found at a motel in Spotsylvania County near Lake Anna.
Brown was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on charges of unauthorized use and driving revoked.
