(Stafford)- A Stafford County sheriff’s deputy is recovering from exposure to an opioid substance while conducting a drug bust Wednesday. Deputies had responded to a van parked at the Goddard School on Highpointe Boulevard early Wednesday with one person having a syringe sticking out of their arm. Deputy A.C. Wolford collected evidence and later while at the hospital with the suspects, medical personal noticed he was unsteady on his feet and he was treated with Narcan, which reverses the effects of an overdose. It’s believed that Wolford may have absorbed fentanyl through his skin, which could have been fatal if not treated.
