Main entrance to Central Park on Rt3 & Carl D. Silver Pkwy will be closed starting 7/25 at 10pm-7am

(Fredericksburg)- The main entrance to Central Park on Route 3 at Fredericksburg will be closed overnight over several weeks beginning Tuesday so crews can relocate a water line.

Access to all businesses, hotels and destinations in Central Park will be maintained during the road work. Drivers will be guided by detour signs to use Central Park Boulevard to enter and exit Central Park while work is underway.

Crews are moving a water line as part of a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) project to improve safety and operations at the Exit 130 interchange and on Route 3.

Weather permitting, traffic will not be permitted to enter or exit Central Park at Carl D. Silver Parkway between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. starting July 25th and during nine additional evenings on Sunday-Thursday nights.

The entrance at Carl D. Silver Parkway will remain open on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Overnight closures are scheduled to also occur from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27, and Sunday, July 30 through Thursday, Aug. 3. The final two evenings of work are scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 6 and Monday, Aug. 7.

All Interstate 95 ramps at Exit 130 will remain open during this work zone, along with through travel lanes of Route 3 eastbound and westbound. Route 3 traffic will not be allowed to turn into the Carl D. Silver Parkway entrance during the overnight work zone hours when the entrance is closed.
