(Fredericksburg)- The Fredericksburg Police Department has received reports from businesses and City residents that a person called pretending to be a Dominion Power representative and asked for payment of a past due bill in the form of gift cards. One of the reporting parties fell victim and paid $1,200 to the scammer. If you receive a call from ANY utility company asking for payment in the form of gift cards, capture the number, hang up, and report the incident to police.
