Fire Damages Spotsy Home

(Spotsylvania)- From Spotsy Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management:

At approximately 6:27 pm on May 19, 2017, the Spotsylvania County Emergency Communications Center was alerted to a fire in the 9400 block of Andrews Mill Lane. When the first unit arrived 8 minutes later, they found smoke and flames coming from the roof of the home. Initial reports of the fire also indicated that a resident may have still been inside the home.

As firefighters quickly assessed the scene and attacked the fire they discovered that the lone occupant had exited the home prior to the fire department’s arrival. Several pets had also escaped the blaze. Fire and Rescue crews continued to attack the fire, bringing it under control in 28 minutes. No civilian or fire department injuries have been reported.

In total, 36 career and volunteer personnel from the Spotsylvania County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management and the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call bringing 4 engines, 3 ladder trucks, 1 rescue, 3 medical transport units and several command staff to the scene. The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene and are still investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
