(Spotsylvania)- A 49-year old King George man has been charged with electronic solicitation of a minor and attempted indecent liberty of a minor. Detectives with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit began interacting with retired Navy Captain Thad Dobbert two weeks ago when they responded to an ad he posted online.
On Friday, Dobbert made arrangements to meet with the teenage girl at a pre-determined location for what he intended to be a sexual encounter with a 14-year old girl. Upon arrival, Dobbert was arrested.
Trained members of the Sheriff’s Office search internet sites in search of online predators. Detectives encourage parents to be vigilant and monitor their children’s online activity.
