(Stafford)- The rebuild on the Washington family home at Ferry Farm continues. The house is being painted a reddish color this week. Director of Archaeology Dave Muraca says all signs point to that being the color of the original house. He says in an interview with the widow of Hugh Mercer she discussed the color. Digging around the site has also found the color on plaster. Inside the home was not painted.
