Routine Maintenance
Monday − Tuesday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 6 a.m. – noon.  Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
 
Route 630 (Courthouse Road) – shoulder work
Route 608 (Brooke Road) – shoulder work
Route 655 (Holly Corner Road) – shoulder work

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) On Tuesday, motorists should be prepared for a slight traffic shift on Fall Hill Avenue near the Canal Bridge. All traffic will be transitioned to the new pavement that runs alongside the retaining wall located near Forest Village Apartments. The traffic shift will allow crews to continue construction on the existing travel lanes on Fall Hill Avenue. Flaggers will direct traffic to the new pavement.  
 
In addition, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal Monday − Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon.
Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday –Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
 
Caroline County/King George County
 
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
(New) Tuesday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project.  Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.
 
Spotsylvania County
 
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Tuesday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Caroline County
 
Route 721 (Sparta Road) Bridge Work
Motorists are reminded that Route 721 (Sparta Road) is closed to through traffic at the Maracossic Creek bridge for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. VDOT crews are upgrading the bridge with new steel beams, new timber, and guardrail. The bridge is located near Route 640 (Maracossic Drive) and Route 645 (Pendleton Road.) Signs and message boards are posted along the recommended detour route.

Traffic Signal Structure Safety Inspection
(New) Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.  Be prepared for intermittent single lane closures at the following intersections. Crews will be conducting traffic signal safety inspections:
Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 603 (Fletchers Chapel Road)
Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 678 (St. Anthony’s Road)
Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 607 (Port Conway Road)
Route 3 (Kings Highway) and Madison Drive Shops

Essex County/Richmond County
 
Route 360 at Downing Bridge
(New) Saturday – Tuesday Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 360 at the Downing Bridge over the Rappahannock River located between Essex and Richmond counties. Crews will begin painting the structural steel on the bridge near the town of Tappahannock. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts until midnight Tuesday, Nov. 22. VDOT inspectors will monitor traffic conditions on Route 360 and Route 17 in Tappahannock to avoid long delays.
 
 
Essex County
 
Route 17
(Update) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing snow plowable pavement markers on Route 17 at the following locations.  Motorists should expect brief delays in these mobile work zones:
 
Route 17 Northbound – from the north end of the Piscataway Creek Bridge to Route 360 at Bray’s Fork.
 
Route 17 Northbound – from the north end of the Mt. Landing Creek Bridge to just north of Route 712 (Laurel Point Road).
 
Route 360
Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drivers should be alert to the work zone as crews will be adding shoulder stone on a 2.4 mile stretch of Route 360 from the end of the Piscataway Creek bridge to Route 17 (Tidewater Trail).   
 
King William County
 
Route 30 Paving
Crews will continue paving, placing shoulder stone, adding permanent line striping, or installing snow plowable markers on Route 30 at the following locations. Be alert and expect brief delays in the work zone from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Gloucester County
 
Route 614
(New) Friday, Nov. 30 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Motorists should be alert on Route 614 (Hickory Ford Rd.) from Route 606 (Ark Rd.) to Route 610 (Pinetta Rd.) which is approximately a two-mile stretch. Crews will be placing stone along the shoulder of the road.
 
Route 14
Monday ˗˗ Tuesday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Motorists should be prepared for brief delays on Route 14 from the King and Queen County line to Route 17 (start of divided median), which is approximately a one mile work zone. Crews will be paving and have a mobile line striping operation.

Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should be alert on Route 14 (The Trail) between Route 33 (Lewis Puller Memorial Highway) to the King & Queen/Gloucester County line by the Poropotank River Bridge.  Crews will be paving and striping. 
 
Lancaster County
 
Route 3
(Update) Monday – Tuesday, Tuesday, Nov. 29 ˗˗ Wednesday, Nov. 30, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations on Route 3 in Lancaster County. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent single lane closures at various locations. 
 
Highway Improvement Projects
 
City of Fredericksburg
 
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project 
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park), as well as on Mary Washington Boulevard. Project completion is January 2017.
 
Stafford County
 
95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension
Construction is underway to extend 95 Express Lanes in Stafford County. The approximate 2.5 mile extension will carry traffic beyond the flyover ramp where 95 Express Lanes currently end, just north of Exit 143/Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). The new southbound exit ramp is scheduled to open by early 2018, and the northbound entrance ramp will open in summer 2018.
 
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. Project completion is May 2017.
 
Route 609 (Raven Road)
Route 609 (Raven Road) is closed to through traffic for a bridge replacement project over Accokeek Creek. Raven Road is closed near the eastern intersection with Route 608 (Brooke Road). A detour around the bridge project will remain in place until late November, weather permitting. Motorists should follow posted detour signs along Raven Road and Brooke Road.
 
Spotsylvania County
 
Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road for an intersection improvement project. Crews will be adding turn lanes, adjusting the existing traffic signal and renovating the sidewalk and median on Spotsylvania Avenue. Motorists should expect brief delays during daytime hours. Extended lane closures will take place during overnight hours. Motorists should expect periodic delays on Mine Road at the intersection. Project completion is mid-November 2016.
 
Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Construction to build additional turn lanes and extend existing turn lanes is underway at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. Motorists should be alert for construction crews and equipment. Project completion is May 2018.
 
Caroline County/King George County
 
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on the James Madison Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights. All lanes are currently open on the bridge, but single lane will be in place periodically. Project completion is October 2017.
 
Route 721 (Sparta Road) Bridge Rehabilitation
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on Route 721 (Sparta Road) bridge over Maracossic Creek.  The bridge is located near Route 640 (Maracossic Drive) and Route 645 (Pendleton Road). Sparta Road is closed to through traffic at the bridge for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Signs and message boards are posted along the recommended detour route.
 
Caroline County/King and Queen County
 
Route 721 (Newtown Road)
Construction is underway to build a new bridge over Beverly Creek at the Caroline County and King and Queen County line.  Motorists will be restricted to a single lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal in the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in July 2017.
