Stafford County
 
Interstate 95
(New) During the overnight hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, Columbia Gas crews will inspect gas lines located under the Route 610 overpass at I-95. The following lane closures will be in place on I-95 near
Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) during the inspection:
 
I-95 northbound – two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday
I-95 southbound – two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 4:30 a.m. Thursday
 
Interstate 95
(New) Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will install concrete barriers along the shoulder of I-95 northbound and southbound between mile markers 141 and mile marker 144, located north and south of Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville), for construction of the 95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension.
 
Route 17 at I-95/Exit 133
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Alternating single lane closures on Route 17 eastbound and westbound at the I-95 interchange. Crews will inspect the I-95 overpasses at Route 17. Expect brief delays.
 
Route 17 Westbound
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. A single lane will be closed on Route 17 westbound from Cardinal Forest Drive to Village Parkway for construction of a right turn lane at Village Parkway. This work is being performed under permit for a Sumner Retail development.
 
Route 633 (Arkendale Road)
(New) Monday – Tuesday and Thursday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Motorists should be alert to a paving operation on Route 633 northbound from Route 605 (Brent Point Road) to Route 611 (Widewater Road). Expect brief delays in the work zone.
 
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Sunday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road in this work zone from daylight to dusk, and again during overnight hours. Crews are placing sewer lines for the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.
 
Routine Maintenance
Tuesday  − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
 
Route 611 (Widewater Road) – mowing
Route 635 (Decatur Road) – mowing
Route 637 (Telegraph Road) – mowing
 
City of Fredericksburg
 
Interstate 95
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Equipment is staged in the Rappahannock River near the I-95 bridges to collect geotechnical samples from the riverbed. Samples are being gathered for the I-95 Rappahannock River Crossing Southbound project, which is estimated to be under construction in 2018-2022. No lane closures or traffic impacts.
 
Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Single lane closure in each direction between Route 1 and Sam Perry Boulevard for storm sewer installation, and construction of new curb and gutter.
 
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m,  and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
 
Fall Hill Avenue
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
 
Princess Anne Street
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. Paving work will continue on Princess Anne Street between Route 1 and Fauquier Street. This is a mobile work zone. Motorists may encounter single lane closures and brief detours in the work zone. Motorists should follow posted signs and direction from flagging crew. This project will be underway through mid-October.  Additional work may occur outside the travel lanes on weekdays

Spotsylvania County
 
Route 721 (Grand Brooks Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Work is underway to hard surface Route 721 (Grand Brooks Road). Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Grand Brooks Road. Drivers should follow direction from the flagging crew. Crews are milling the existing road and reinforcing it with concrete. This process can generate dust, which crews will suppress with water. After the concrete stabilized roadway has set, crews will hard surface the road. Work will be underway through Oct. 31.
 
Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
(Update) Sunday − Friday, 6:30 p.m. – 6 a.m. Milling and paving will take place at the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection. Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface. In addition, motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the median on Spotsylvania Avenue and in the vicinity of the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection. Expect lane closures and brief delays in this work zone Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
 
Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road). Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

(Update) Thursday, 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project.  Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

Route 3
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will install traffic signal loops under the pavement on Route 3 eastbound from just east of Lambs Creek Road to just east of Route 609 (Comorn Road). One lane will be closed in the work zone. 
 
Westmoreland County
 
Route 214
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Crews will continue paving on Route 214 from Route 3 to Route 609.
 
Route 621
(Update) Friday and Monday, Oct. 17 – Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue to pave, stripe and place shoulder stone on Route 621 from Route 711 (Bushfield Road) to Route 626 (Mt. Holly Road).

(Update) Tuesday – Friday and Monday, Oct. 17 – Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue paving, line striping and placing shoulder stone on Route 644 from Route 645 (Gonyon Road) to Route 360.

Route 30 Paving
(Update) Crews will continue milling, paving and line striping on Route 30 at the following locations for the next two weeks. Expect delays in the work zone from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

(Update) Tuesday – Thursday and Monday, Oct. 17 – Wednesday, Oct. 19, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will mill, pave and restripe Route 3 from Route 701 (Green Point Road) to Route 198 (Buckley Hall Road).
 
King and Queen County
 
Route 14
(New) Tuesday, Oct. 18 – Saturday, Oct. 22, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Milling will take place on Route 14 from Route 644 to the Gloucester County line to Route 17. Expect a rough driving surface in the work zone.
 
Route 360 Eastbound
(Update) Tuesday – Friday and Monday, Oct. 17, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will pave and place stone along the shoulder on Route 360 eastbound in the vicinity of the King William County line.
 
Route 634
Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will pave Route 634 in the vicinity of Route 629.
 
Gloucester County
 
Route 14
(New) Thursday, Oct. 20 – Friday, Oct. 21, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Crews will mill then pave Route 14 from the King and Queen County line to Route 17.  Expect a rough driving surface in the work zone.
 
Route 198
(New) Thursday – Friday and Monday, Oct. 17 – Thursday, Oct. 20, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will mill then pave Route 198 from Route 601 (Pampo Road) to just east of Route 673 (Freeport Road).
 
Middlesex County
 
Route 33
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will mill, pave, re-stripe and place stone along the shoulder on Route 33 eastbound and westbound from just east of VDOT’s Saluda Residency Office and Route 227.
 
Middlesex County and Lancaster County
 
Robert O. Norris Bridge
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 3 at the Norris for an annual bridge inspection. A pilot car will lead traffic across the bridge one lane at a time. Traffic will be stopped at the bridge approach until the pilot car returns. The inspections are scheduled to be complete by Friday, Oct. 28. Motorists should expect significant delays at the bridge.
 
Highway Improvement Projects
 
City of Fredericksburg
 
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project 
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park), as well as on Mary Washington Boulevard. Project completion is January 2017.
 
Stafford County
 
95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension
Construction is underway to extend 95 Express Lanes in Stafford County. The approximate 2.5 mile extension will carry traffic beyond the flyover ramp where 95 Express Lanes currently end, just north of Exit 143/Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). The new southbound exit ramp is scheduled to open by early 2018, and the northbound entrance ramp will open in summer 2018.
 
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. Project completion is May 2017.
 
Route 609 (Raven Road)
Route 609 (Raven Road) is closed to through traffic for a bridge replacement project over Accokeek Creek.  Raven Road is closed near the eastern intersection with Route 608 (Brooke Road). A detour around the bridge project will remain in place until late October, weather permitting. Motorists should follow posted detour signs along Raven Road and Brooke Road.
 
Route 1 and Garrisonville Road Turn Lane Project
Stafford County is locally administering a project to add a second right turn lane from Route 1 southbound to westbound Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). New traffic signal equipment will also be installed at the intersection. Drivers may encounter lane closures during off-peak and overnight hours.
 
Spotsylvania County
 
Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road for an intersection improvement project. Crews will be adding turn lanes, adjusting the existing traffic signal and renovating the sidewalk and median on Spotsylvania Avenue. Motorists should expect brief delays during daytime hours. Extended lane closures will take place during overnight hours. Motorists should expect periodic delays on Mine Road at the intersection. Project completion is mid-November 2016.
 
Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Construction to build additional turn lanes and extend existing turn lanes is underway at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. Motorists should be alert for construction crews and equipment. Project completion is May 2018.
 
Caroline County/King George County
 
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on the James Madison Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights. All lanes are currently open on the bridge, but single lane will be in place periodically. Project completion is October 2017.
 
Caroline County/King and Queen County
 
Route 721 (Newtown Road)
Construction is underway to build a new bridge over Beverly Creek at the Caroline County and King and Queen County line. A detour is in place through late October. Motorists should follow posted signs along the detour route to Route 644 (Bagby Road) and Route 627 (Mattaponi Trail/Roundabout Route Road). The project is expected to be complete in July 2017.
