Route 1

(Update) Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will continue milling and paving Route 1 northbound from just north of the Falmouth Intersection to Route 652 (Truslow Road). Motorists should expect lane closures, a rough driving surface and brief delays in the work zone.

Route 17 Business

(Update) Sunday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 17 Business northbound from the Falmouth Intersection to Wyne Drive. Motorists should expect lane closures, a rough driving surface and brief delays in the work zone.

Route 17

(Update) Monday – Thursday, daylight to dusk and Friday, daylight to noon. Crews will be milling on Route 17 northbound and southbound and along the side streets between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Most work will be done behind the orange barrels and cones, however, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in the work zone. Crews will be working daylight to dusk.

Route 218 (Butler Road)

(Update) Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 218 (Butler Road) from Carter Street to the bridge over CSX Railroad, located just east of the WaWa. Motorists should expect lane closures and a rough driving surface in the work zone.

Sidewalk Improvements

(New) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Work crews will install handicapped-accessible sidewalk ramps at Route 17 Business and Heartfields Lane

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)

(Update) Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance

Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:

City of Fredericksburg

Interstate 95

(Update) On Monday and Tuesday at approximately 11:30 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. traffic on I-95 northbound will be briefly stopped at mile marker 131, located just north of Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg), to allow crews to move a large crane from the shoulder to the median. Motorists should expect delays in this area. This work is in connection with the Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project

Fall Hill Avenue

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania County

Interstate 95 – Southbound

(Update) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be repairing the concrete on the I-95 bridge over the Po River, located at between Exit 126 (Route 1/ Spotsylvania) and Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg).The right lane will be closed in the work zone.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)

(New) Monday – Tuesday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Crews will be paving on Route 627 from Route 613 (Brock Road) to Route 628 (Smith Station Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 613 (Brock Road)

(New) Wednesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Crews will be paving on Route 613 from Lake Anna Parkway to Route 627 (Gordon Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)

(Update) Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays on Route 628 southbound between the CVS entrance and Courtland High School. Flaggers will be directing traffic in the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) Turn Lanes and Signal Modification Project.

Harrison Road

(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) for tree removal. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road Intersection Improvement Project.

(Update) Sunday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. and Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30- p.m. Crews will continue concrete repairs on the Route 605 (Paige Road) bridge over I-95 located just south of Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg) in Spotsylvania County. Motorists can expect intermittent single lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound.

Route 3

(New) Monday and Tuesday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Crews will be striping and installing raised pavement markers on Route 3 from just east of Route 200 (Irvington Road) to just west of Route 1004 (Hatton Ave.). Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 617

(Update) Monday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will be line striping on Route 617 from Route 3 (Mary Ball Road) to Route 600 (Lara Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Merry Point Ferry

(Update) The Merry Point Ferry will resume normal operations on Wednesday, June 29.

Northumberland County

Route 202

(New) Sunday and Monday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers on Route 202 in the vicinity of Route 360 in the Town of Callao. Motorists should expect brief delays in the mobile work zone.

(Update) Sunday and Monday, 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers on Route 360 in the vicinity of Route 202 (Hampton Hall Road) in the Town of Callao. Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 360

(Update) Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers on Route 360 westbound in the vicinity of Route 624 (Lewisetta Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Richmond County

Route 3

(New) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers on Route 3 from just east of the Route 3 bypass to just west of Route 360 (Richmond Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 3/Route 360 Sidewalk Project

(Update) Monday – Thursday, daylight to dusk and Friday, daylight to noon. There will be intermittent single lane closures on Route 3 and Route 360 at the intersection of Route 3/Route 360. Crews will be installing loop detectors and signal poles in connection with the pedestrian improvements at the intersection.

Westmoreland County

Route 3

(New) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing raised pavement markers on Route 3 from just west of the Route 664 (Bowie Road) to just west of Route 604 (Popes CreekRoad). Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 3

(Update) Monday, June 27 – Wednesday, June 29, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 3 eastbound from Route 623 (Finches Hill Road) to just west of Route 1209 (Forest Drive). Motorists should expect a single lane closure and brief delays in the work zone.

Route 204

(New) Wednesday, June 29 – Friday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 5 – Saturday, July 9, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 204 near Route 3 (Kings Highway). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone. Note: There will be no lane closures in this work zone from noon Friday, July 1 until noon Tuesday, July 5.

Route 202

(Update) Sunday, June 26 – Thursday, June 30, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving and line striping on Route 202 from just west of Route 662 (east end of the Nomini Bridge) to just east of Route 621 (Prospect Hill Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 638

(New) Tuesday, July 5 – Friday, July 8, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving on Route 638 in the vicinity of Route 636 (Cottage Farm Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 205/Route 631 Intersection

(Update) Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will continue milling and paving near the intersection of Route 205 and Route 631. Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 205 and also on Route 631 near the intersection. Flaggers will be in place at both locations to direct motorists through the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road) Intersection Improvement Project.

Essex County

Route 17 Southbound

(New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing pavement markers on Route 17 southbound from just north of Route 627 to just south of Route 1215. Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 17 Northbound

(Update) Monday, June 27 – Friday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 6 – Friday, July 8. Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 17 northbound from the north end of Mount Landing Creek Bridge to just north of Route 712 (Laurel Point Road). Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. each day. Note: There will be no lane closures in this work zone from noon on Friday, July 1 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 6.

Route 17 Northbound

(Update) Monday, June 27 – Friday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 6 – Saturday, July 9, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue milling and paving on Route 17 northbound from the north end of Piscataway Creek Bridge to Route 360 at Brays Fork. Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface in the work zone. Note: There will be no lane closures in this work zone from noon on Friday, July 1 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 6.

King and Queen County

Lord Delaware Bridge

(New) Beginning Monday, June 27 crews will be performing test on the Lord Delaware Bridge in connection with an ongoing maintenance project to remove and replace grout. A single lane closure will be in place between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day through Thursday, June 30. A biodegradable red dye will be used as part of the test. The dye will dissipate in 2-5 days.

Highway Improvement Projects

City of Fredericksburg

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project

Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park), as well as on Mary Washington Boulevard. The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project

Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17

Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Travel lanes will remain open, but motorists may encounter slight traffic shifts in the work zone. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Route 1

Be alert for a temporary traffic pattern on Route 1 southbound at the site of the new Aquia Hilton. The through lanes on Route 1 southbound from just south of Port Aquia Drive to just prior to the intersection of Route 1 and Coachman Drive (at the 7-Eleven) will be shifted to the left. The continuous center lane for left turns in this area will be closed to accommodate the traffic shift. This work is related to construction of the Aquia Hilton. The pattern is anticipated to be in place through early July 2016.

Route 1 and Garrisonville Road Turn Lane Project

Stafford County is locally administering a project to add a second right turn lane from Route 1 southbound to westbound Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). The project seeks to reduce congestion and driver delay on Route 1 southbound. New traffic signal equipment will also be installed at the intersection. Construction will begin in July and conclude in September 2016. Drivers may encounter lane closures during off-peak and overnight hours.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)

Construction to build additional turn lanes and extend existing turn lanes is underway at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. Motorists should be alert for construction crews and equipment. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2018.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)

Construction is underway on the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) Turn Lanes and Signal Modification Project. The project is located on Smith Station Road near the Route 208 (Courthouse Road) intersection. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures and delays in the work zone.

Caroline County

Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)

Nelson Hill Road is closed to traffic at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted detour route. Estimated completion is mid-September 2016.

Caroline County/King George County

Route 301 at Rappahannock River

Bridge rehabilitation is underway on the James Madison Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights. All lanes are currently open on the bridge, but single lane closures will be installed in the future. Project completion is October 2017.

Westmoreland County

Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)

Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. This project will be completed by July 2016.

Richmond County

Route 3 Business and Route 360 Pedestrian Improvements

Construction has begun to install new sidewalks, handicapped-accessible ramps and pedestrian crossing equipment at the intersection of Route 3 Business and Route 360 in the Town of Warsaw. Most construction will occur outside of the roadway. Intermittent lane closures will be needed for trucks to deliver materials, for the construction of curbs and ramps, and for the installation of pedestrian crossing equipment, crosswalks, and final lane markings. Project completion is scheduled for July 18, 2016.

Lancaster County

Route 200 Sidewalk Construction – Project Complete

Installation of the new sidewalk along Route 200 (Irvington Road) in the Town of Irvington is now complete. The new sidewalk was installed along the east side of Irvington Road beginning at the intersection with Route 634 (King Carter Drive).

King and Queen County

Route 631 (Fleets Mill Road)

Route 631 (Fleets Mill Road) is closed to traffic at the bridge over Fleets Creeks for a bridge replacement project. Route 17 (The Trail) to Route 360 (Richmond-Tappahannock Highway) and back to Route 631 is the designated detour route.
