FOR THE FREDERICKSBURG REGION

Stafford County

Route 17
(New) Sunday and Monday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Traffic on Route 17 northbound and southbound will be shifted to one lane at Celebrate Virginia Parkway for signal work.

Sunday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will continue working in the crossovers on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and International Drive. Motorists should expect lane closures and slight traffic shifts in the work zone. Various crossovers in the work zone may be periodically closed to traffic.

Route 1
(New) Beginning Tuesday a new temporary traffic pattern will be in place on Route 1 southbound at the site of the new Aquia Hilton. The two through travel lanes on Route 1 southbound from just south of Port Aquia Drive to the end of the southernmost intersection of Route 1 and Coachman Drive will be shifted to the left. The continuous left turn center lane in this area will be closed to accommodate the traffic shift. This temporary traffic pattern is expected to remain in place for approximately 45 days. This work is in connection with the construction of the Aquia Hilton.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed on eastbound Route 610 at Onville Road. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance Activities
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

• Route 3 (Kings Highway) – shoulder work
• Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy.) – shoulder work
• Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
• Route 626 (Morton Road) – shoulder work
• Route 1254 (Willow Branch) – pipe work
• Crow’s Nest – road construction

City of Fredericksburg

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard due to trucks entering and exiting the Fall Hill Avenue widening project site. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal. Crews are replacing storm water pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania

Route 1 at Mudd Tavern Road
Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Paving will continue on Route 1 northbound and southbound in the vicinity of Mudd Tavern Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures in the work zone.

Benchmark Road at CSX Rail
(New) Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 25 Benchmark Road will be closed to through traffic at the CSX rail crossing for rail work. Motorists should use Route 2, Route 17 or the most convenient alternate route. The crossing will remain closed until after noon on Friday, April. 29.

Sheraton Hills
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Crews will be patching at various locations in Sheraton Hills. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance Activities
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

• Route 3 (Plank Road) – sweeping
• Route 1935 (Wellford Court) – ditching
• Route 1274 (Lovett Drive) – ditching
• Route 668 (Summit Crossing Road) – shoulder work
• Route 649 (Seays Road) – brush cutting
• Route 696 (Sullivan Road) – machine road
• Route 738 (Partlow Road) – tree trimming
• Route 669 (Butler Road) – tree trimming

Caroline

Interstate 95
(New) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be inspecting the I-95 bridge over CSX rail located at mile marker 104. Motorists should be alert to crews and equipment along the shoulder lane. All travel lanes will be open to traffic in the work zone.

Route 207
(New) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be conducting a routine inspection of the Route 207 bridge over CSX rail. One lane will be closed to traffic on Route 207 eastbound.

Route 17
Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Paving work continues on Route 17 southbound just south of Port Royal. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 301
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be trenching along the shoulder on Route 301 northbound
between the Hanover County line and the south end of the Mattaponi River Bridge. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Bridge Cleaning – Various Locations
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect a single lane closure at various bridges located on the following routes throughout Caroline County. Crews will be performing bridge cleaning:
• Route 2
• Route 17
• Route 207
• Route 301
• Various Secondary Routes (Route numbered above 600)

Fredericksburg

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Caroline County

Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)
Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road) is closed at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted recommended detour route. Estimated completion is mid-September 2016.

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is open to traffic. Final paving will occur in spring 2016.

Westmoreland County

Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. Estimated completion is July 1, 2016.
