(Spotsylvania)- The Spotsylvania Baseball committee last night approved sending the Hagerstown Suns a new stadium agreement that asks for more private funding. There’s been no indication what the team’s response will be. “I would like to make it very clear and very strong that we would prefer to have more private skin in the game,” committee member and Supervisor Ann Heidig said. “I’m not saying I’m opposed to a single nickel of taxpayer money or public money, but I’m opposed to footing the whole bill.” The two sides face a July 31st deadline to come up with an agreement. Committee members Jim Joyce and Garrett Garner voted no. Joyce said the county should be focused on funding for education, public safety and roads. He said the project has been rushed. The Board of Supervisors is expected to discuss baseball on Tuesday.
