Law enforcement from around the region gathered this morning at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. There were several references in the hour long service to the challenges faced by law enforcement. City Police Chief David Nye: “The images do not define us. The words will not defeat us.” Spotsylvania Delegate Mark Cole: “Today this service is being unjustly maligned in some places.” 32 flags were placed on a wreath for the officers who have died over the years in an area that covers from Fredericksburg to Greene to Goochland to the Northern Neck.
