Caroline High School Student Shot and Killed Outside YMCA

CAROLINE COUNTY, VA – The Caroline County Sheriff confirmed that 15-year-old Caroline High School student, Elijah “Buck” Ball, was shot early Saturday evening after a dispute with another 15-year-old Caroline High School student.  Sheriff Lippa said that the 15-year old suspect was taken into custody without incident and sent to a juvenile facility.  Suspect was charge with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  Lippa said that the suspect and victim “did not like each other.

An eye witness says they saw two teenager arguing near the YMCA.  The witness said one teenager threaten to shoot the other, then pulled out a gun and fired three shots.

A candlelight vigil at Caroline Manor Sunday evening was held, celebrating the life of Ball.

Caroline County Public Schools posted on Facebook Sunday evening, “We are saddened by the tragic loss of one of our Caroline High School students on yesterday evening. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends. In an effort to help students tomorrow, school counselors and local clergy members will be available to students who need their services. In addition, we are working with the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department to have additional deputies at the schools.
