Fredericksburg Police Incidents – 3/17/15


DRAG RACING/MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH

500 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, 3/16 6:45 p.m. Jefferson Davis Highway southbound at Mary Washington Boulevard was shut down for approximately 30 minutes Monday evening for a motor vehicle crash that sent two drivers to the hospital with serious injuries. A red Toyota driven by a 48-year-old Ruther Glen woman was turning from Route 1 northbound onto Mary Washington Boulevard when it was struck broadside by a white Acura operated by a 30-year-old Spotsylvania man. The Acura was traveling south on Route 1 at a high rate of speed at the time of the crash, and witnesses reported that the driver of the Acura was drag racing with another vehicle just prior to the impact. The second vehicle reportedly involved in the drag racing was not struck in the crash.

The Acura’s driver, Michael Yanick, was charged with reckless driving/racing (46.2-865 A) and operating an uninsured vehicle (46.2-707). The driver of the Toyota, Cathryn Wadsworth, was also charged with failure to yield the right of way.

LARCENY
Charlotte International, 1609 Dixon St, 3/14 – 3/16 9:30 a.m. An employee reported that an unknown person stole all four tires and rims from a vehicle at the business. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Fredericksburg Antique Gallery, 1023 Caroline St, 2/16 – 3/16 2:30 p.m. An employee reported that an unknown person stole a painting from one of the vendor booths. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

2300 block Cowan Blvd, 2/16 (reported 3/16) 5:30 p.m. A resident reported that an unknown person stole a package containing a video game system that had been delivered to her apartment by UPS. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

DUI ARRESTS
Michelle Amburgey, 47, of Spotsylvania was arrested on charges of DUI, possession of marijuana, and possession of schedule I,II narcotics.

ARRESTS
Jeffery Smith, 25, of Locust Grove was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana. Smith was released on a summons.

Michael Hiort, 54, of Fredericksburg was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and public intoxication.

Shanita Miller, 33, of Stafford was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.
