More snow coming

Fredericksburg (WBQB/WFVA)  -- More snow is coming. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from noon today to 7pm tomorrow.  The National Weather Service says our area could see 6-12 inches of new snow.   VDOT's Tina Bundy says crews have been working all night in subdivisions trying to open at least a lane. Beginning today crews will mobilize again and prepare to keep the primary roads open. The snow is expected to start this afternoon.  Bundy says the new snow along with the slow melting and freezing that we continue to see mean that the effects of these storms will be around for weeks.  She says crews are not able to plow in cul-de-sacs if there are cars parked in the circle. She says in most cases the plow is too big to be able to turn around.

The new storm comes as power crews continue to work in the region.  Rappahannock Electric Cooperative says there are still about 15-hundred outages in Spotsylvania. 8-thousand in the entire system.   Spokeswoman Ann Lewis says this is the worst winter they've experienced since 1994.  She says heavy snow is what causes them problems. She says snow added on snow will make getting to right-of-ways to restore electricity even more difficult.  Lewis says you need to call about an outage only once. However,  she says if your neighbor has power restored and you don't, check your breaker and then give REC another call. Dominion reports scattered outages in the Fredericksburg area. Dominion hopes to have all power restored by tonight.
