Stafford (WFVA) -- Stafford Supervisors have approved an increase in water rates over the next three years. Beginning next month rates will rise 9%. Next July first they'll go up another 8% and in fiscal 2016 they'll increase 6%. Supervisor Ty Schieber said there's not just one reason for the increases. He said there's the cost for chemicals and supplies and the county has deferred replacements in recent years. He said this increase is not tied to only new development. Customers that use about 5 thousand gallons a month will see their bills increase about four dollars.
