Spotsylvania (WFVA) -- Visitors to Spotsylvania County Schools must now have a driver's license or another form of state-issued ID. It will be scanned into a child sexual registry. The ID will be held by the office until the person leaves. School officials say it's your ticket in-and-out of school. The entrances to all schools now send visitors immediately into the front office. School Superintendent Dr. Scott Baker said, "Whenever we do safety enhancements we never believe one simple adjustment--whether it's a procedure or whether it's a program or whether it's construction--makes us invulnerable to any safety threats," School Board Chairwoman Amanda Blalock said visitors are still welcome. Blalock said tighter measures reflect the times. "It's different going anywhere. Sporting events, taking a trip, it's part of the culture we live in."
