Fredericksburg, VA -- Desiree Williams, competing as Miss Arlington, was crowned Miss Virginia over the weekend in Roanoke. She'll move on to the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City in September. She also won a 17-thousand-500 dollar scholarship. Williams graduated summa cum laude from Hampton University in 2011 and is currently pursuing a doctorate there, in physical therapy. Williams' platform promotes health and fitness to young people. Miss Northern Virginia, Savannah Lane, was the fourth runner-up. Lauren Kiedinger, representing Hampton-Newport News, was the first runner-up, followed by Miss Lynchburg, Courtney Garrett, and third runner-up Victoria Maiden, Miss Apple Blossom Festival.
