(Stafford)- From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office apprehended two suspects early on Monday morning in connection with two residential burglaries in the county.

On January 1, 2018 at approximately 4:45 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a breaking and entering at a residence on Landmark Drive. The caller said a man had kicked through the glass storm door and steel door, entering the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that after breaking into the residence, the subject, later identified as Kelvin Cruz, 19, pushed past the homeowner and attempted to walk up the stairs where the resident’s wife and children were sleeping. The deputy took Cruz into custody and observed a strong alcoholic odor coming from the subject.

Cruz was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $3000 secured bond. He is charged with breaking and entering, destruction of property and public intoxication.

On the same evening, deputies responded to reports of a breaking and entering at a residence at Stafford Mews Court. The victim told deputies that he and the suspect, Sabrina Vaughn, 39, were driving home from a New Year’s party when an argument ensued and Vaughn began punching the victim. The victim exited the vehicle on Garrisonville Road and walked the rest of the way home.

When Vaughn arrived at the victim’s residence, she began pounding on the door and woke up the family. The owner of the home, the victim’s mother, opened the door and Vaughn pushed past her and entered the residence. Shortly after the victim arrived at the residence, he tried to help Vaughn calm down, but she grabbed him by the hair and later came back to the door and kicked it in, breaking the door frame.

Vaughn resisted when deputies attempted to take her into custody and was belligerent on the ride to the Sheriff’s Office. She was incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a $2000 secured bond and is charged with breaking and entering, destruction of property, domestic assault and battery, obstruction of justice and public intoxication.
