Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project
Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.
Exit 130B Off-Ramp
(New) Wednesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. The new traffic pattern for Exit 130B will go into effect overnight and the new traffic signal will be activated. All I-95 southbound traffic exiting Route 3 westbound will use the new ramp with triple right lanes, controlled by the new signal. Expect mobile, alternating lane closures and brief delays at the interchange as crews shift traffic to the new ramp.
Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday ˗˗ 6 a.m. Friday The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to Route 3 westbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway. All lanes will reopen at 1 p.m. the following day except on Friday, when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Expect brief delays at the interchange.
I-95 Southbound at Exit 130
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday ˗˗ 6 a.m. Friday, A single, right lane on I-95 southbound will be closed near the Exit 130/Route 3 interchange for construction activities related to the project. All lanes will reopen at 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday at 6 a.m. Expect overnight delays near the interchange.
Route 3 Eastbound
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m. A single, right lane will be closed on Route 3 eastbound near the interchange.
Route 3 Westbound
(New) Monday, 10 a.m. ˗˗ 11 a.m. Expect alternating, mobile lane closures on Route 3 westbound to allow crews to remove the bags from the new traffic signal. The signal will then be placed in flash mode before going into full operational mode on Wednesday evening.
Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.
Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Aquia Creek at mile marker 145
The I-95 bridges over Aquia Creek are located just after Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) at mile marker 145.
• I-95 Northbound: Monday – Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Expect alternating, single lane closures.
• I-95 Southbound: Tuesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 9:30 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project
Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.
Interstate 95 Southbound Off-Ramp
(Update) Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The Exit 118 off-ramp which carries traffic from I-95 southbound to Mudd Tavern Road will be reduced to a single lane for storm sewer installation. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working in the right lane and right shoulder of the ramp. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)

(New) Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect mobile, alternating lane closures on Route 218 (Butler Road) near Chatham Heights Road for traffic engineering work. Expect brief delays.
Route 628 (Eskimo Hill Bridge)
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one way traffic on Eskimo Hill Road at the bridge over CSX railroad tracks for bridge repairs. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone, which is near Montague Loop. Expect brief, overnight delays.
Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
(New) Wednesday ˗˗ Thursday, 7 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road from Route 1 to Wyche Road for utility work. This is a Stafford County project to improve service at the Red Oak Drive intersection.
Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Monument Drive for clearing/trimming trees, installing concrete barrier and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.
Route 1389 (Ridge Pointe Lane)

(Update) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound near Mount Pleasants Road and at the Moncuin Creek Bridge for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.
Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone
Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge
Temporary traffic signals are installed at the center spans of the Norris Bridge on Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties. Two temporary signals control one-way, alternating traffic at the bridge’s center spans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Crews are using the closed lane to paint the center spans of the bridge over the Rappahannock River. The signals will remain in place until the end of the painting project in June 2018.
