(Caroline)- Virginia State Police investigating a crash involving a Caroline County Deputy which occurred around 5am on Ladysmith Road west of Balty Road in Caroline County. State Police worked the crash at the request of Sheriff Tony Lippa.
A pickup was traveling west on Lady smith when it crossed the double yellow line and struck the deputies vehicle head-on.
The deputy was transported to Mary Washington Hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pickup has been charged with Driving Under the Influence and transported to Pumunkey Regional Jail.
