Blue and Gray Parkway Bridge over Rappahannock River
(New) Tuesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m.  Westbound motorists will be restricted to one lane on the Blue and Gray Parkway from Route 3 (Kings Highway) to Dixon Street while crews inspect the Blue and Gray Parkway Bridge over the Rappahannock River.
 
Route 3 (Kings Highway) at bridge over CSX Railroad Tracks
(New) Saturday, 10 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. A single lane and shoulder will be closed on Route 3 (Kings Highway) westbound and eastbound between Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) and Chatham Heights Road. Crews will be inspecting the Route 3 bridge over CSX railroad tracks. Work will begin on the westbound side and move to the eastbound. Drivers can expect brief delays through the work zone.
 
Route 624 (Primmer House Road) Bridge over CSX Railroad Tracks
(New) Saturday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.  Motorists should expect alternating single lane closures on Route 624 (Primmer House Road) between Riggs Road and Burnt Oak Lane while crews inspect the bridge over the CSX railroad tracks. Drivers can expect brief delays as flaggers direct traffic through the work zone.
 
Route 626 (Potomac Run Rd.) Bridge over Potomac Creek
(New) Wednesday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Motorists should expect alternating single lane closures on  Route 626 (Potomac Run Road) from Rifkind Drive to River Farm Drive while crews inspect the Potomac Run Road bridge over the Potomac Creek. Drivers can expect brief delays as flaggers direct traffic through the work zone.
 
Route 631 (Bells Hill Road) near Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)
(Update) Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Trench work will continue on Route 631 (Bells Hill Road) this week. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 631 (Bells Hill Road) from the intersection of Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) to Cork Street. 
 
Route 17 at Deep Run Creek
Sunday – Saturday. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in each direction on Route 17 at the bridge over Deep Run Creek while crews continue to paint the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.
 
Route 1001 at Falls Run
Sunday ˗˗ Saturday. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 1001 (Melcher Drive) at the bridge over Falls Run while crews continue to paint the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) Intersection Improvement Project
Sunday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road in this work zone from daylight to dusk, and again during overnight hours. Crews are placing sewer lines for the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.
 
Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) On Thursday motorists should be prepared for a slight  traffic shift on Fall Hill Avenue near the Canal Bridge. All traffic will be transitioned to the new pavement that runs alongside the retaining wall located near Forest Village Apartments. The traffic shift will allow crews to continue construction on the existing travel lanes on Fall Hill Avenue. Flaggers will direct traffic to the new pavement.  
 
In addition, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon.
Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.
 
Spotsylvania County
 
Interstate 95
Monday – Thursday, 9:30 – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 10 p.m. – 4 a.m. Saturday morning. Bridge rehabilitation work is underway on the I-95 bridge over the Ni River located at mile marker 121, south of Exit 126 (Spotsylvania).  The right shoulder on I-95 northbound and southbound will be closed in the work zone. All travel lanes will remain open. 
 
Traffic Signal Structure Safety Inspection
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 4:30 p.m.  Be prepared for intermittent single lane closures at the following intersections. Crews will be conducting traffic signal safety inspections:

Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.
 
Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment and intermittent single lane closures on Spotsylvania Avenue and at the intersection of Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road as work continues on the Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road intersection improvement project.

Caroline County
 
Route 721 (Sparta Road) Bridge Work
Motorists are reminded that Route 721 (Sparta Road) is closed to through traffic at the Maracossic Creek bridge for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. VDOT crews are upgrading the bridge with new steel beams, new timber, and guardrail. The bridge is located near Route 640 (Maracossic Drive) and Route 645 (Pendleton Road.) Signs and message boards are posted along the recommended detour route.

Monday − Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Sunday – Saturday. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 207 at the bridge over Polecat Creek while crews continue to paint the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.

Sunday – Saturday. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 218 at the bridge over the RF&P railroad  as crews work to continue to paint the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.

Route 17
(New) Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be installing snow plowable pavement markers on Route 17 at the following locations.  Motorists should expect brief delays in these mobile work zones:
 
Route 17 Northbound – from the north end of the Piscataway Creek Bridge to Route 360 at Bray’s Fork.
 
Route 17 Northbound – from the north end of the Mt. Landing Creek Bridge to just north of Route 712 (Laurel Point Road).
 
Route 360 Paving
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will continue milling, paving, line striping and adding shoulder stone on a 2.4 mile stretch of Route 360 from the end of the Piscataway Creek bridge to Route 17 (Tidewater Trail).  Expect delays in the work zone.
 
Route 360 at Piscataway Creek
(Update) Sunday – Saturday. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 360 at the bridge over Piscataway Creek while crews continue painting the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.

Friday 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.  Motorists should be prepared for brief delays on Route 14 from the King and Queen County line to Route 17 (start of divided median). Crews will be installng rumble strips in this area.

(Update) Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should be alert on Route 14 (The Trail) between Route 33 (Lewis Puller Memorial Highway) to the King & Queen/Gloucester County line by the Poropotank River Bridge.  Crews will be installing rumble strips in this area. 
 
 
Lancaster County
 
Route 3
(New) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will be replacing guardrail at various locations on Route 3 in Lancaster County. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent single lane closures at various locations. 
 
Route 200 at Carters Creek
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Saturday.  Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 200 at the bridge over Carters Creek while crews continue to paint the structural steel on the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone. Crews will work 24-hours a day in two 12-hour shifts.
 
Mathews County
 
Route 3
(New) Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should be alert on Route 3 near Route 701 (Green Point) and Route 198 (Buckley Hall Road). Crews will be installing rumble strips in this area. 
 
 
Highway Improvement Projects
 
City of Fredericksburg
 
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project 
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park), as well as on Mary Washington Boulevard. Project completion is January 2017.
 
Stafford County
 
95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension
Construction is underway to extend 95 Express Lanes in Stafford County. The approximate 2.5 mile extension will carry traffic beyond the flyover ramp where 95 Express Lanes currently end, just north of Exit 143/Route 610 (Garrisonville Road). The new southbound exit ramp is scheduled to open by early 2018, and the northbound entrance ramp will open in summer 2018.
 
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. Project completion is May 2017.
 
Route 609 (Raven Road)
Route 609 (Raven Road) is closed to through traffic for a bridge replacement project over Accokeek Creek. Raven Road is closed near the eastern intersection with Route 608 (Brooke Road). A detour around the bridge project will remain in place until late November, weather permitting. Motorists should follow posted detour signs along Raven Road and Brooke Road.
 
Route 1 and Garrisonville Road Turn Lane Project – Project Complete
The project to add a second right turn lane from Route 1 southbound to Garrisonville Road westbound is now complete.  The project was a Stafford County locally administering a project.
 
Spotsylvania County
 
Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road for an intersection improvement project. Crews will be adding turn lanes, adjusting the existing traffic signal and renovating the sidewalk and median on Spotsylvania Avenue. Motorists should expect brief delays during daytime hours. Extended lane closures will take place during overnight hours. Motorists should expect periodic delays on Mine Road at the intersection. Project completion is mid-November 2016.
 
Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Construction to build additional turn lanes and extend existing turn lanes is underway at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County. Motorists should be alert for construction crews and equipment. Project completion is May 2018.
 
Caroline County/King George County
 
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on the James Madison Memorial Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights. All lanes are currently open on the bridge, but single lane will be in place periodically. Project completion is October 2017.
 
 
Route 721 (Sparta Road) Bridge Rehabilitation
Bridge rehabilitation is underway on Route 721 (Sparta Road) bridge over Maracossic Creek.  The bridge is located near Route 640 (Maracossic Drive) and Route 645 (Pendleton Road). Sparta Road is closed to through traffic at the bridge for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Signs and message boards are posted along the recommended detour route.
 
 
Caroline County/King and Queen County
 
Route 721 (Newtown Road)
Construction is underway to build a new bridge over Beverly Creek at the Caroline County and King and Queen County line.  Motorists will be restricted to a single lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal in the work zone. The project is expected to be complete in July 2017
