FOR THE FREDERICKSBURG REGION
April 10 – April 16, 2016

Stafford County

Route 17
(New) Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and slight traffic shifts on Route 17 in the vicinity of Stafford Lakes Parkway. Crews will be cutting traffic signal loops and installing traffic signal components in this area.

Route 17
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews continue paving on Route 17 between Stafford Lakes Parkway and Commerce Parkway. Traffic on Route 17 will be shifted slightly in the work zone and various crossovers within the work zone may be closed periodically. Two travel lanes will be open in both directions. The following paving work will take place in the project limits this week:

• Monday – paving crossovers and turn lanes on Route 17 northbound and southbound
• Tuesday – paving the through lanes on Route 17 southbound between International Drive and McLane Drive
• Wednesday – paving the through lanes on Route 17 northbound between McLane Drive and International Drive
• Thursday and Friday– paving crossovers and turn lanes on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and International Drive

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed on eastbound Route 610 at Onville Road. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

City of Fredericksburg

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard due to trucks entering and exiting the Fall Hill Avenue widening project site. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal. Crews are replacing storm water pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania

Route 208
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be trenching along the shoulder on Route 208 between the north end of the bridge over Lake Anna and Route 601 (Lawyers Road). Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)
(New) On Tuesday the two new traffic signals located on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) at the Interstate 95 northbound and southbound ramps at Exit 118/Thornburg will be placed in flash mode. On Thursday the traffic signals will be in full operation. Motorists should be alert to the change in traffic pattern at this location.

Caroline

Interstate 95
(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will be inspecting overhead signs on various structures on I-95 northbound and southbound in Caroline County. Motorists should expect a single lane closure in this mobile work zone. Inspections will take place at the following locations:

• I-95 northbound – between mile marker 103 and mile marker 111
• I-95 southbound – between mile marker 112 and mile marker 104

Interstate 95
(New) On Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 crews will be inspecting the I-95 bridge over the CSX railroad. Crews will be working along the shoulder from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The bridge is located between mile marker 102 and mile marker 104 in Caroline County. All travel lanes will be open.

Route 301
(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will be inspecting the overhead signs on various structures on Route 301 northbound between Oak Ridge Street and E. Broaddus Avenue. One lane will be closed in this mobile work zone.

Route 17
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Crews will be paving on Route 17 southbound just south of Port Royal. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard
(New) On Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 crews will be inspecting the Route 207 bridge over the CSX railroad. Crews will be working along the shoulder from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Motorists traveling eastbound on Route 207 will be restricted to one lane.

Fredericksburg

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Caroline County

Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)
Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road) is closed at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted recommended detour route. Estimated completion is mid-September 2016.

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is open to traffic. Final paving will occur in spring 2016.

Westmoreland County

Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. Estimated completion is July 1, 2016.
