Stafford County

Route 17

(New) Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will be paving the crossovers on Route 17 between Stafford Lakes Parkway and Commerce Parkway. Work will begin at Stafford Lakes Parkway and move south towards Commerce Parkway. Traffic on Route 17 southbound will be shifted slightly in the work zone. Two travel lanes will be maintained at all times.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)

Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed on eastbound Route 610 at Onville Road. Crews will be placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project.

Routine Maintenance Activities

(Update) Monday– Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

•Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy) – shoulder work
•Route 3 (King’s Highway) – shoulder work
•Route 608 (Brooke Road) – pipe replacement
•Crow’s Nest – road construction

City of Fredericksburg

Interstate 95

(Update) Bridge demolition work will continue this week at the Fall Hill Avenue overpass in Fredericksburg. Demolition of the overpass will impact traffic on I-95 northbound and southbound during the overnight hours. Lane closures have been scheduled at the following times and dates:
• Sunday, March 20
Interstate 95 northbound – Two lanes closed 10 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. One lane closed 3:30 – 4:30 a.m.
• Monday, March 21
Interstate 95 northbound – One lane closed at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes closed 10 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. One lane closed 3:30 – 4:30 a.m.

•Tuesday, March 22

Interstate 95 northbound – One lane closed at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes closed 10 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. One lane closed 3:30 – 4:30 a.m.

•Wednesday, March 23

Interstate 95 southbound – One lane closed at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes closed 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

•Thursday, March 24

Interstate 95 southbound – One lane closed at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes closed 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Virginia State Police will be assisting with traffic control in the work zone. Motorists should use Route 1 to avoid delays.

Mary Washington Boulevard

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard due to trucks entering and exiting the Fall Hill Avenue widening project site. Flaggers will direct motorist through the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue

Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the canal. Crews are replacing storm water pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 at Mudd Tavern Road

(New) On Thursday traffic on Route 1 northbound at Mudd Tavern Road will be shifted slightly east. The traffic shift will allow crews to work in the median. The traffic shift will take place just after the morning rush. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road) intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance Activities

(Update) Monday– Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. – noon. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

•Route 636 (Mine Road) – vegetation removal
•Route 608 (Old Blockhouse Road) – shoulder work
•Route 643 (Haleys Mill Road) – ditching
•Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – shoulder work
•Route 702 (Curtis Lane) – ditching
•Route 1765 (Stonewall Estates) – pipe replacement

Caroline County

Route 656 (Coleman’s Mill Road)

(New) At 7 a.m. on Monday CSX will close Route 656 (Coleman’s Mill Road) at the rail crossing for track work. Coleman’s Mill Road will remain closed until Friday evening. Signs will be posted to guide motorists along the recommended detour route.

Westmoreland County

Route 205 at Route 631 (Longfield Road)

(New) Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Crews will install a drainage pipe across Route 205 at the intersection of Route 631 (Longfield Road) located near Colonial Beach. Motorists should expect the following delays:

•Tuesday and Wednesday – motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 205.
•Thursday and Friday – motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 631 (Longfield Road).

Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) Intersection Reconstruction project.

Fredericksburg

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project

Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project

Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17

Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)

Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Caroline County

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is open to traffic. Final paving will occur in the spring.

Westmoreland County

Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)

Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. The project is expected to be complete by July 1, 2016.
