(Spotsylvania)- The Spotsylvania School Board last night gave preliminary approval to a policy that would allow home-schooled and private school students to take up to two public school classes each academic year. Superintendent Scott Baker says there have been requests. The classes must count toward a diploma. Courses would be open to part-time students only if there is space. School Board Chairwoman Dawn Shelley says this policy would not take any class away from a full-time student. The part-timers couldn’t play sports, be part of clubs or other extra- curricular activities. Their parents would be responsible for transportation. The School Board will take a final vote next month.
