A nine member committee will work on baseball in Spotsylvania. Seven of the members will be members of the Board of Supervisors or someone they designate. Two will be from the Economic Development Authority. Board members Yakabouski and Heidig are on it. Jim Joyce was appointed by Supervisor McLaughlin. There’s a July 31st deadline if there’s a deal to be made with the Hagerstown Suns. Yakabouski says it’s still too soon to hire and attorney to handle negotiations for Spotsylvania. “I don’t want to waste county money if there’s no sense moving forward,” he said. Spotsylvania officials hope to meet with the Hagerstown Suns next month. Supervisor Dave Ross says he’s a no vote. Ross says baseball should not be funded by county government.
