House Fire on Monrovia Road in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA – From Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management: On April 2, 2015, a homeowner discovered fire in their home in the 16000 block of Monrovia Road. The resident called 9-1-1 at 6:30 pm. When firefighters arrived, they found the home about 75% involved with fire. Everyone had exited the home safely.

It took 36 career and volunteer members from the Spotsylvania County Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Also, mutual aid was received from Mine Run in Orange County. A total of five engines, six tankers, one ambulance, a specialty air supply unit, and three chief officers responded to the incident. There were no reported injuries to the three residents (two family members and a friend), pets, nor were there any reported firefighter injuries.

The fire appears to have stated in the kitchen area, but the Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the exact cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents who have been displaced from the total loss of their home.
